Dr Precious Sithole

Dr. Precious Sithole is a highly respected and emerging ophthalmologist specializing in anterior segment and paediatric eye care. After earning her medical degree from the University of Pretoria, she pursued advanced ophthalmology training at the University of the Witwatersrand, where she developed a deep passion for understanding the complexities of the eye and the profound role vision plays in a child's development and quality of life. With a particular interest in corneal conditions, Dr. Sithole has spent the last three years refining her surgical expertise, including performing corneal transplants and treating keratoconus.

Dr. Sithole is renowned for her clinical excellence in diagnosing and managing anterior segment conditions, such as cataracts, corneal disorders, and strabismus (squint eyes), particularly in paediatric patients. Her exceptional surgical precision, combined with her compassionate and patient-focused approach, has earned her the trust and admiration of her patients and peers.

Notably, Dr. Sithole completed a prestigious fellowship in retinoblastoma, a rare and aggressive eye cancer primarily affecting children. Leveraging her expertise, she established and continues to operate the Retinoblastoma Centre of Excellence at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital (CMJAH). This pioneering facility provides comprehensive care and cutting-edge treatments for children across northern South Africa, offering hope to families affected by this devastating condition.

In addition to her clinical achievements, Dr. Sithole is dedicated to research and education, playing an active role in training trainee ophthalmologists and presenting her work at major ophthalmology conferences.
